Beauty Blog 4: DIY Body Sugar Scrub

Hope you all ended 2010 on a happy note. As promised here is your recipe for a sugar scrub you will want to devourer. Below I will list different ingredients for the body scrub, each will be have great benefit for the skin type I list them for...

Before you all go making your superb scrubs, do make sure you are not allergic to any of the ingredients and if you they can be substituted by another ingredient listed. Also note if your skin is acne prone using a scrub is not advice for it can worsen the condition of the acne. My advice for acne prone skin is to talk to your dermatologist for a more accommodating routine.  Also be sure to shower regulary with soap and at the end of your shower exfoliate using your scrub.

Dry Skin Sugar Scrub ingredients:

· Coarse Sugar

· Honey

· Avocado

· Egg Yolk

· Olive Oil

From the ingredients listed above take the Coarse Sugar in a bowl I would say about half a cup (for entire body or less, if you want it to be less scrubby) then add honey, avocado, egg yolk, or olive oil; you can use one single ingredient or a combination of many or all and combine them with the sugar(do not dissolve sugar). Then hop into a steamed bathroom, dampen skin and apply all over body in circular motions going upwards. Scrub for 5-10 mins and leave on your skin for another 5 mins and then wash off with warm water and you will notice the difference right there and then. Your skin will feel velvety smooth. Don’t forget to moisturize to ensure to lock in the moisture.

Below are other combinations of ingredients for different skin types. Follow the steps as above using ingredients listed under your skin type.

Dry to Combination skin sugar scrub ingredients:

· Coarse sugar

· Egg Yolk

· Grape fruit (mashed/grinded)

· Grapes

Oily skin sugar scrub ingredients: (whisk all ingredients together then add sugar at the end and combine)

· Coarse Sugar

· Lemon (mashed/grated) with 1 tbsp yogurt

· Whole wheat flour 4 tbsp 1 tbsp yogurt

· 2 Egg whites with Lemon (mashed/grated)

All ingredients can be bought at your local supermarket or already available in your pantry. Only make enough for one time use, do not store over night.

Beauty Blog 3: Ring in the new year with warmth and glam !

This a palette from what I would personally choose from considering what most people would have in thier closet : a dress, a pair of tights some awesome boots gold accessories or silver depending on your outfit, scarf/gloves/hat set to keep you toasty, and a coat, either a traditional coat, or the new trend for 2011 F aux Fur coats!
Its cold out there so I would suggest going for gold tones eyeshadow smokey eye liner and gold dust or glitter on the lids for that extra oomph!  Nude pink lips have always been my fav, although you must carry a lip gloss or lip moisturizer.  You can highlight the high points of your face with frosty highlight and use a bronzer or a warm toned pink blush to bring warmth back into your face.  For this look I would go with eyelashes, they don't have to be over dramatic something natural to be added to your own lashes.  Jewelry is always great but not all of it at once I would chose 2 key pieces a ring and necklace, a necklace and a bracelet, a headband and a bracelet maybe even a ring.  Over accessorizing can really ruin the look all together.
This is a glamorous yet warm outfit that can be put together for new years, so you can be warm and enjoy yourself.

Click on the pictures to enlarge, most outfits as above can be achieved through forever 21 or h&m

Then sing, young hearts that are full of cheer,
With never a thought of sorrow;
The old goes out, but the glad young year
Comes merrily in tomorrow
-Emily Miller
Happy New Year! May this year be filled with happiness for everyone and may all your problems of previous years come to and end and happiness begins!

Beauty Blog 2 : Winter Blues : Dry Skin

Winter has kicked in full gear with all this snow fall here in NY, its time to step up your game and get your skin as velvety as a baby’s butt. This time of year people hate it when they see models and TV actresses having supple, soft well moisturized skin and then you realize how uncomfortable, flaky, dry, or rough your skin is?  Well I have some great pointers that you can follow at home for dramatically beautiful skin.

Step 1: Exfoliation - You must start with cleaning your skin and getting rid of dirt and dead skin buildup.  There is no need to take out special time to exfoliate yourself; it can simply be done during your shower.  I know if I have to take out time to do something it doesn’t last long, so doing this step all at once in the shower will leave you with plenty of time for your busy life, so who said you cant look beautiful in your hectic life?
  • FACE - Start this 5 mins into the shower when the warm water starts to open your pores, then start exfoliating your face in circular motions using your favorite scrub.  I recommend the famous St. Ives Apricot Scrub, I only recommend things that are true to what they are suppose to do.  I used this scrub for 8 years now. I love it!
  • BODY – Exfoliation for the body is just as important as exfoliating the face.  Most of my clients have mentioned that they usually just exfoliate the face.  I tell them if you want a full body head to toe youthful appearance and great skin.  Skin that is velvety smooth and even toned then you must work on all the parts.  For the body you can use a special body scrub of your preference. You would want your body just moist with water not dripping and I personally would advise to circulate the scrub up towards the face starting from the feet.  You don’t want to pull the scrub down.  Circular motions going upwards is the best bet.  A body scrub I would recommend is D:tox system by Giovanni Organic Body Care, it is a tar sugar scrub for the body.

STEP 2: Moisturize – One of the best things you can do to have beautiful flawless skin.  Efficiently moisturizing keeps your skin from premature aging and wrinkles.  After your shower it's the perfect time to moisturize your face and body.  I would recommend several things, but as always you can use what are already have if it’s working great for you. Here is what I recommend:

  • Coco Butter Body and Face - recommended for dry skin
  • St Ives Collagen Body lotion - recommended for combination dry to oily skin
  • Shea Butter – recommended for combination skin dry to oily skin
  • Coconut Butter – recommended for oily skin
  • Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing - Lotion for the face – They have one for dry skin and one for oily skin
  • Bath&Body  Hand & Foot: Hand Treatments: Glove Me Tender – this is great for the winter to moisturize your hand and feet the best times to use this after the shower and before leaving home in the morning.  What I personally do is apply it on my hands and feet and wear my socks and gloves over it right before I leave home.
Follow this routine for every shower and assuming that you all shower at least 3-7 times a week this will be a great start in achieving beautiful skin.  Keep in mind over exfoliating can worsen dry skin, and may cause irritation, so it is very important that you find the right personal balance as to how many times you should exfoliate within a week.  Recovery is needed with any skin regimen. I would recommend exfoliating once or twice a week at most for the face and body, and leaving 1-2 days in between exfoliation.  However exfoliating troubles areas such as toes, knees, elbows or any rough/dry patches 3-4 times a week is ok.  Although moisturizing is must for the skin after every shower.

Also note you can find all products listed above from drugstores, beauty supply stores, bath and body website or store, and your local clinique counter or you may purchase it online.

Beauty Blog 1 - Hi, Hello, Hyderation !

Hi guys here is a little intro on me I am a freelance makeup artist in the dreamy NY ,and i have been succesful in my art career that now people hire me to do thier bridal makeup.  Did I mention I live for art, and beauty ? It is one of my many passions...art and living beautfully is my yoga for the body mind and soul.  Now if you guys read my descriptions up top below my blog title,  I had mentioned "  have a cheesy but true formula to top all this off " ... well here it is.  My motto in some sense....it opens a person to self improvement in many different aspects.   The word to sum it up ... BE-YOU-TEA.  It is wat it says .... ofcourse I can go into an in depth meaning analysis but lets keep it basic.  Being yourself and loving yourself is the key to the world of beauty and to lock that beauty in I drink loads of tea.  I guess im giving you two tips right now... Be yourself and stay hyderated.  I hyderate myself with a punch of antioxidents in the form of a warm cup of green tea.  It is a change from water.  If green tea isn't your cup of tea, try changing up the flavor to how you want it.
Here are some options for you cup of tea :
- Honey
- Lemon
- 100% pomegrante juice
- Acia berry juice
- Apple cider
- Ginger slice
- Cinnamon
- Mint
-Seltzer water ( choose this over soda and add any ingredient from above works just aswell as soda )
and the list can go on, think of anything that you can put in your water to enhance the flavor to your liking.  This will help you intake more water for your body and give you a healthier canvas and you'll enjoy the taste while your drinking well.  Keep in mind what your adding in your green tea if its not 100% juice and its loaded with sugar it will actually work against your skin.

Hopeless

I am a sad soul
used to feeling so cold
when will I break free of this unbreakable hold?

Theres no hope
no hope
no hope at all

I stand in a crowded street, yet I feel alone
alone with the emptiness that grows as time goes on
this time goes on .. and on .. and on

There's no hope
no hope
no hope at all

In my chest was a beating sound
A sound that sounds like it wants to drown
there's no going strong with this heart of mine
the pieces shattered so, so fine
no way to place them back together
there's nothing you can say or do to make feel any better

no hope
no hope
no hope at all

you act so tough you think your right
you don't really care how i feel tonight..
I wish I could show you what it feels to hurt this way
but if I did then I would become you today

if only you can understand
if only you can comprehend
if only you can break this trend

of

no hope .

DOS file names/ extensions/functions

DOS has several functions, all you have to do is type it correctly and you'll get those functions to work.
Examples of DOS functions :

  • Formatting(preparing) and organizing a disk for use.
  • Setting up subdirectories and directories.
  • Running programs on your computer.
  • moving and copying files.

The following will be of use when creating directories/subdirectories.
  • Formatting - so that you can prepare a disk for your use
(some times disks are formatted in a drive that is not readable by your computer system, thats when formatting comes into play)

  • Copy- exactly what it means, its to copy files on your computer onto other drives, folders, etc...
  • DIR- stands for Directory, you can type this in the command window and get a list of the names of files on a given disk.
  • CHKDSK - this allows you to check the characteristics of the disk and system.
These were just a few examples to get us started on DOS.
